A Break from Your Exercise Routine on Vacation is Ok

Here at Studios Etc., we just got back from a much needed vacation and break from our normal day-to-day lives. With that came a change in our normal exercise routine, and we are sure it did for many of you – our dear clients – as well. As fitness fanatics, it is normal to be out of whack when something like this happens, but it is important to realize that taking a break is OK. Not only is it OK, but it is good for you!

Breaking Out of Your Normal Exercise Routine Won’t Kill You

We know you all work hard on your bodies, staying committed to working out and eating healthy food. On vacation, a regular routine gets completely shook up. We just experienced it ourselves. However, rather than stress out about it, the importance of taking a break should be stressed.

Just like we work to make a living, we exercise to keep ourselves fit, healthy, and youthful. Also just like work, sometimes our bodies need a break. Taking a week off won’t revert you back into a couch potato, just like taking a week off of work won’t make you broke. If you spend the majority of your time working towards something, it is necessary to take a break once in a while. Your body and mind will thank you. If you are constantly going at 100%, your body will eventually burn out. To avoid this, it is important to learn how to unwind and allow yourself to relax.

You Can Stay Healthy On Vacation Too

People associate vacation with sleeping in, eating out, and perhaps knocking back a few too many cocktails in the evening. While there isn’t anything wrong with indulging once in a while, there are things you can do while you are on vacation to not let yourself slip completely. For example, just because you can’t make it to the studio doesn’t mean you can’t take one of our online classes!

If you are vacationing in a new city or town, how about checking out some of their local studios? It is a great way to explore places you haven’t been, and you may even learn a new thing or two. Also, instead of taking the car everywhere, walk! Walking has a ton of benefits that will help keep you in check while you travel. Just because it isn’t your regular exercise routine doesn’t make it bad.

When it comes to eating, allow yourself to indulge a percentage of the time, but for the rest, make healthy decisions. Swap a heavy breakfast with a healthy green juice to start your day right, and make smart decisions when it comes to snacking. However, you still want to make sure you get to experience the local cuisine of wherever you have traveled to, so allow yourself to enjoy the foods you may not normally eat, and savor each bite.

Coming Back Home is Oh-So-Sweet

While vacation is great, coming home is often even better. If you are missing your exercise routine while you are on vacation, consider yourself lucky to have a healthy habit that you enjoy so much you can’t wait to get back to it. Having a passion like that is rare. You will come home with a new appreciation and energy from your travels.

All that being said, we are more than thrilled to be back home at our beautiful studio on palm beach island. If we have to call anywhere home, we are happy to have it be here, in one of the most picturesque and beautiful spots in our country. We are back open and look forward to welcoming all of you back through our doors for the remainder of the summer and beyond!
